5TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF THE DESIGNATION OF MONTREAL AS A UNESCO CITY OF DESIGN

To commemorate the fifth anniversary of this distinction, Montreal organized a variety of activities for the public and the design world, including the fifth edition of Portes Ouvertes Design Montréal 2011, the CODE poster exhibition, an exhibition at Place Ville Marie entitled Une ville si souvent citée and a symposium entitled Les politiques de villes de design. We were mandated to handle media relations for major public events among media representatives from Quebec and Canada. We were involved in the selection of the new spokesperson, Anne-Marie Cadieux, and for booking her media appearances, and in the selection of spokespersons from each design discipline. These media relations initiatives proved to be very successful, resulting in the participation of close to 20,000 people at the Portes Ouvertes and generating excellent coverage in magazines (Clin d’œil, Dress to Kill, Vita, Pure, Décormag, 7 jours, Écho Vedettes) and newspapers (Métro, 24hres, La Presse, Le Journal de Montreal, Le Devoir, The Gazette), and increasing our Web coverage as compared to the 2010 edition. We also expanded our television media coverage with numerous interviews on all networks, including Radio-Canada, TVA, Musique Plus and V télé. This mandate was a resounding media success that surpassed all previous editions of Portes Ouvertes Design Montreal, for which we have always ensured a steady increase in the number of media features.
